...a message from the chairman...

First I would like to thank the thousands of individuals, who have helped in so many different ways, both large and small, to support our cause over the years. Every little bit helps and every penny goes to improve the quality of health care right here in Meadow Lake. Giving to the Meadow Lake Hospital Foundation is as close as you can get to giving yourself a gift, and then getting a charitable receipt for it.

Community members have supported their Foundation in a variety of ways including: cash gifts, donations in memory of a loved one, leaving us a gift in their will, being an event sponsor, donating proceeds from their own organization’s fundraiser, attending one of our events, donating items to our silent auction, donating items to our live auction, purchasing auction items, being a Board member, or by donating time, talent and resources to helping at one of our events.

New forms of giving to your Foundation have recently been initiated. Transferring shares to the Foundation allows an individual to receive a tax deductible charitable receipt for the full value of the shares and avoid paying income tax on that amount. A simple wage deduction of a few dollars on each payday submitted by your employer directly to the Foundation is another easy way to do your part.

In 2015 changes were made to our bylaws that now allow your Foundation to purchase equipment for any of the facilities in Meadow Lake that fall under the umbrella of the Prairie North Health Region. This will allow us to give support wherever the need is the greatest.

Changes were also made to our bylaws that will see that one third of the Board Member’s terms expire each year, not all. This will ensure a reasonable level of continuity in the Board of Directors and at the same time allow for the election of new members.

Elections to the Board are held each year at the Annual General Meeting which is advertised two weeks prior. We encourage you to attend.
